Man Utd 2-1 Barcelona; Antony and Fred Win Europa League Playoff for Ten Hag

In an electrifying second leg of playoff of the Europa League, the crowd at Old Trafford witnessed a fight back of their beloved home team to take home the victory. Manchester United beat Spanish giants, Barcelona 2-1 at their home ground.

Manchester United have now proceeded to the Europa League round of 16 stage with an aggregate of 4-3. The first leg had previously ended in a 2-2 deadlock draw.

Man United Mow Down harmless Barcelona

After the initial kickoff of the second leg, Bruno Fernandes was denied an early opportunity at the goal Ter Stegen only 2 minutes into the match, which was followed by another vain attempt by Raphinha at the United goal.

The match unfolded as game of fouls with both sides receiving multiple yellow cards for their rough play. United’s defense stood strong against most attacks from the formidable Barcelona attacking front; however, United’s rough play became a blessing for the Spaniards.

Bruno Fernandes’s heavy challenge on Alejandro Balde gave away a needless penalty to Barcelona in the 18th minute of the match, when Robert Lewandowski converted it a much-needed goal for the La Liga giants.

It was almost saved by the brilliant David de Gea but, but Robert’s shot had much power which couldn’t have been saved by one hand.

For the rest of the first half, desperate attempts at goal made by United were constantly denied by Ter Stegen with his stunning saves. Marcus Rashford, surprisingly remained invisible throughout thew first half; although showed his presence on the second half, but with half-witted failed attempts.

Fred, Antony turn up for Man United

United’s tide began changing into the second half when United made a grand comeback and turned the tables after Fred scored a stunning goal in 47th minute of the match to equalize the scoreline yet again for United.

The Old Trafford saw cries of victory when Antony, who came from the bench earlier in place of Wout Weghorst, scored a classic winning goal beating the feared Ter Stegen in the 72nd minute of the match, sealing the victory for the Red Devils.

Manchester United now turn their attention to the Carabao Cup finals at the Wembley Stadium against Newcastle United on Sunday.
