Man City defender Ruben Dias ruled out with Injury; Arsenal hail as title favorites

Arsenal have been doing surprisingly well in the current ongoing Premier League season so far and Arteta-led Arsenal currently sit pretty at the top of the table, while being five points ahead of previous season’s champions, Manchester City.

The Gunners have already taken a major blow to their arsenal of players with their £45million summer signing, Gabriel Jesus, sustaining a long-term injury in the 2022 FIFA World Cup while he was playing for Brazil. On the contrary, City have now stumbled upon an injury of their own.

Ruben Dias Injury detail

Pep Guardiola-led Manchester City has now suffered due to their star centerback, Ruben Dias, being injury-stricken. He was ruled out for more than a month owing to his injury.

Sources have claimed that the center-back has suffered a thigh injury during the World cup campaign with Portugal while playing a victorious knockout match against Switzerland.

The defender went on to play in Portugal’s quarterfinal clash against Morocco despite his injury, making it a lot worse after they were ultimately kicked out of the tournament by the African nation.

According to reports, Ruben Dias has not yet started training for his club, City, ever since he has returned from Qatar. Initial reports have also predicted that he will be missing Manchester City’s next five matches.

The Portuguese’s absence from the squad would heavily affect their race for the title, especially since they are running slightly behind Arsenal on the table. He will also be missing out on important fixtures against Chelsea and Manchester Derby.

However, according to the sources, Dias seems “desperate” in proving his physical fitness before their showdown against Manchester United on 14th January.

On top of this, Kalvin Philips has also recently missed training with teammates in City after his return from national duties with England in the FIFA World Cup.

Guardiola spoke earlier on Dias’ and Philips’ injury reports and said, “Ruben is injured. Kalvin Phillips is not fit; he did not arrive in the best condition to play.”
