Liverpool 5-1 Toulouse: Ryan Gravenberch stars for Reds as they move closer to Europa League knockouts 

In latest football match news headlines, Liverpool thrashed Toulouse 5-1 as Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo starred for the Reds as they move closer to the Europa League knockout phase.

New signing Ryan Gravenberch took the spotlight at Anfield as Liverpool recorded their third straight victory, creating a five-point gap at the top of Group E.

Liverpool thrash Toulouse to maintain perfect Europa League start

Diogo Jota opened the scoring for the hosts inside ten minutes, embarking on a solo run that saw him navigate past four defenders before planting the ball into the bottom corner.

However, Toulouse equalised through Thijs Dallinga. Nevertheless, the Reds took a 2-1 lead through Wataru Endo at the half-hour mark. Four minutes later, Darwin Nunez extended Liverpool’s lead with a shot from a tight angle, capitalising on a rebound inside the box.

Nunuez could’ve scored his second goal in the 65th minute, but his shot struck the post. However Ryan Gravenberch was there to score on the rebound.

Substitute Mohamed Salah scored the fifth goal, which was his 43rd goal in Europe. He also surpassed Thierry Henry (42) as the Premier League player with the most goals in European competition.

Jurgen Klopp hails Gravenberch and Endo’s performances

When asked about Gravenberch, Klopp said: “I’m so happy for him that he starts really enjoying his football again. His first touch is incredible, his acceleration with the ball. He’s not even halfway there. The good thing is that he has a lot of things to improve.”

He continued: “Endo was really strong. He played a really good game, he broke the lines with his passing. [The goal is] a nice next step for him.”

Liverpool play Toulouse again on November 9 and would confirm their progression if they win against the French side.
