Just In: Ramiz Raja to be removed as PCB chairman; Najam Sethi to replace him

In an unforeseen turn of events it has been reported in Pakistani Media that Ramiz Raja will lose his post as the Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board.

A Pakistani media outlet Geo News cited strong sources on Saturday regarding the sacking of Ramiz Raja. Further it was also reported by an Indian outlet that former chairman Najam Sethi will regain the set.

“Yes, something is going on definitely. Rumors are strong that Najam Sethi who recently met with the premier at a function in Lahore might be called up to replace Ramiz as Chairman,” a former member of the PCB told PTI.

Ramiz Raja to be removed from position of PCB chairman

The reason behind this move has been stated as the reestablishment of the sporting constitution by the Pakistan’s Prime Minister. Sehbaz Sharif was earlier reported to be having a lunch with Sethi at Lahore.

Following which a statement came out, that said, “PCB’s constitution of 2014 should be restored. After its restoration, departmental sports will be revived,” quoting the premier.

This means that the former constitution of PCB can be restored. Meaning that personals who were present in the office might also be restored and Sethi is one of them.

Najam Sethi had stepped down as the chairperson following Imran Khan’s ascension to PM’s post. Now that he is gone, Ramiz Raja is most likely to lose his job as the chairperson as well.

Further reports also claim that this has something to do with Raja’s constant appeal to boycott 2023 ODI world Cup in India. His appeals might fall on deaf ears, hence, Pakistan has decided to repeal the man who is making them.
