India’s Anahat Singh Shines with Gold in Asian Junior Squash Championships

Anahat Singh, a rising talent in Indian squash, achieved a momentous feat by capturing the gold medal in the U-17 category of the prestigious Asian Junior Squash Individual Championships. Her resounding victory adds to her impressive list of achievements and underscores her determination and skill on the court. The championship, held from August 16 to 20, highlighted Anahat’s exceptional performance and triumph.

Anahat’s Path to Victory: Triumph of Skill and Grit

The journey to gold saw Anahat Singh demonstrate her exceptional prowess and determination. The 15-year-old prodigy showcased her talent by securing a 3-1 victory over Hong Kong’s Ena Kwong in the finals. In earlier rounds, she exhibited her skill and determination by overcoming formidable opponents from Malaysia, Doyce Lee, and Whitney Isabelle Wilson, in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively.

Anahat’s victory in the Asian Junior Squash Individual Championships is not her first taste of success. In the previous year’s edition of the championships held in Thailand, she clinched her debut gold medal, marking her emergence as a force to be reckoned with on the international squash scene.

Anahat Singh’s journey towards squash excellence is marked by a series of impressive milestones. In January 2019, she triumphed in the Girls U-11 category at the British Junior Open Squash, showcasing her skill at an early age. Subsequently, she secured victory in the Girls U-13 category at the Dutch Junior Open Squash in July of the same year.

Her remarkable performance in 2021 propelled her to the quarterfinals of the Indian Open held in Noida, thereby earning her a place in the 2021-22 PSA World Tour, where she continued to make her mark on the global stage.

Anahat’s remarkable journey reached new heights as she proudly represented India at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Remarkably, at the age of just 14, she became the youngest Indian participant in the competition, further solidifying her reputation as a prodigious talent in the world of squash.
