India Secures Silver in Women’s 10m Air Rifle Team Event at Hangzhou Asian Games

Team India made a remarkable start at the 19th Asian Games by clinching a silver medal in the Women’s 10 Metre Air Rifle team event. The trio of Ramita, Mehuli Ghosh, and Ashi Chouksey showcased exceptional marksmanship, earning accolades for their outstanding performance on Sunday.

Collective Brilliance

The Indian team delivered a combined score of 1886, securing the silver medal. Ramita’s individual score of 631.9 secured her the second position, displaying precision and composure. Mehuli Ghosh demonstrated her shooting prowess by finishing fifth with a score of 630.8. Meanwhile, Ashi Chouksey contributed significantly with a score of 623.3, securing 29th place in the individual rankings.

India’s podium finish was the result of a fierce competition. China, with a remarkable score of 1896.6, clinched the gold medal, while Mongolia secured the bronze with a total score of 1880. Ramita and Mehuli’s stellar performances also granted them spots in the finals of the individual event, where they continued to represent India with distinction.

Record-Breaking Moment

In an additional highlight, China’s Han Jiayu set a new Qualification Asian Record with an impressive score of 634.1, surpassing the previous record set by her compatriot Zhao Ruozhu in New Delhi in 2019.

The silver medal in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle Team event marks India’s first medal at the 19th Asian Games, a historic moment of pride and achievement for the nation.
