Dinesh Karthik has been in a sublime form this season. From his performance, one can tell that he is a man on a mission. And yesterday, he revealed his mission once and for all.

Karthik has started the fifteenth season of IPL in a sublime form. After being snubbed by Kolkata Knight Riders, where he had a dismal season last year, he had found a new life in RCB. And the role of finisher suits him too well.

Karthik’s great performance in IPL this season

He has scored 197 runs in just six innings this season so far. Filling into the big shoes of AB de Villiers, Karthik has done a fantabulous job so far. He has been striking the ball at 210 and has been dismissed only once this season, which means he has an average of 197.

The Indian wicketkeeper made his intentions crystal clear during his post-match conversation with Star Sport’s host.  Karthik said, “I have been working really, really hard… my aim is to do something bigger for the country… I have been doing everything I can to be part of the Indian team. This is one step in that direction.”

This conversation took place after Karthik was rewarded with the player of the match award for his sublime inning of 66* off just 34 balls.

Dinesh Karthik has been an integral part of the Indian cricket team in the past. Nobody to this date can forget his knock in the Nidhas trophy final against  Bangladesh in 2018. He smashed Rubel Hossain for 22 runs in the 19th over to get his side over the line.

His raw hot form earned him a place in the 2019 World Cup in England. However, he failed to live up to the expectation in that tournament. And the knockout in the semifinals saw him and many other players get laid off from the team.

Change in plans for Dinesh Karthik

During India’s tour of England last year, Karthik was seen as a part of the commentary team. This made people believe that the player was all set to hang up in boots. Considering that, in India, the commentary is seen as a job for retired players.

Karthik is all set to break the stereotype, though.

If he continues to play in the same fashion throughout this tournament, there’s no way he’s not making it to the Indian team’s squad for the T20 World cup later this year.

Indian team can use some of his experience and explosive batting skills. They have recently been suffering on both accounts. They crashed out of the T20 World Cup in UAE last year and will be hoping to learn from their mistakes.

The Indian cricket team has not won a single ICC trophy since 2013. After the upsetting last year, they will be willing to do anything to bring it home this year. And Dinesh Karthik can help them fulfill that dream.
