Hardik Pandya faces criticism as Tilak Verma left stranded on 49 in the third T20I against West Indies

The incident took place on the fourth ball of the 18th over of the Indian innings which Hardik Pandya hit for a six to win the match

India won the third T20I versus West Indies courtesy of a spirited performance by the Indian batters led by Suryakumar Yadav who played an attacking innings of 83 runs making sure that India wins the match comfortably which wasn’t the case in the previous two T20Is which the team lost by close margins.

He was well supported by a new kid on the block Tilak Verma who played a sensible innings of 49 runs. The duo walked in to bat after both the openers got out in quick succession.

Chasing a target of 160 runs to win the match and keep the series alive Surya and Tilak made sure that West Indies are not given any chance to get back into the match as they attacked right from the start taking on the fast bowlers and spinners and hitting them to all parts of the ground.

The Counterattack

Tilak started the assault by hitting back-to-back boundaries at the start of his innings making sure that Surya gets enough time to get his eye in and play his shots after getting set. That’s exactly what he did as he played his typical scoops and cut shots unsettling the bowler in the process.

Surya’s innings ensured that India are well ahead of the DLS par score as there were chances of rain during the match and the rain did fall during the second innings although it didn’t have any impact on the match as the play continued while the rain was pouring down in short spells.

The Criticism

While India won the match after a breathtaking knock from the bat of Suryakumar Yadav, there was another incident that caught the attention of the audience. The incident took place on the fourth ball of the 18th over of the Indian innings which Hardik Pandya hit for a six to win the match.

Everyone expected Hardik to take a single and let Tilak Verma who was batting on 49 complete his second fifty in a row but Hardik instead of taking a single hit the ball over the boundary for six which left Tilak stranded on 49, Hardik faced heavy criticism for not letting the youngster complete his fifty.
