French Players’ Union Threatens Legal Action Against PSG for Kylian Mbappe

The latest turn of events in the Kylian Mbappe–Paris Saint-Germain transfer fiasco with Real Madrid is that this time it is France’s National Union of Professional Footballers (UNFP) who have threatened sort of legal action against PSG.

This new development has occurred after PSG had been attempting to force the French star Kylian Mbappe to accept the forcible summer transfer which would only profit the club.

The Parisian club had earlier warned Mbappe that he will be sold as soon as possible starting immediately if he did not agree to sign a new deal with PSG, this happened after Mbappe had made it clear that he would not be triggering a contract extension going beyond next summer.

In an attempt to pressurize the star striker even more, PSG made a sly move of leaving Mbappe out of their squad for the pre-season matches, which was to portray to the world and the player that his options were only limited to either choosing to leave or, preferably to sign a contract extension.

According to the latest reports, the UNFP has accused the Les Parisiens of breaking the French law by their behaviour of forcing Kylian Mbappe intentionally into signing a contract which will give him poorer working conditions. These tactics of PSG did not sit right with the UNFP.

The union issued a public statement saying that these players, in fact, all the players deserve to enjoy the same working conditions as all the rest of the professional workforce of France.

“The UNFP feels it would be useful to remind the managers that putting pressure on an employee, via the deterioration of their working conditions, to force them to leave or accept what the employer wants constitutes moral harassment, which French law firmly condemns”, stated the union.

The union further asserted that the UNFP reserved the rights to take a criminal and civil action against any of these clubs and not just PSG, who are behaving in this inappropriate manner.
