Ferran Torres-Ansu Fati Argue Over Barcelona Penalty Kick Reveals Xavi

Barcelona acquired their victory over Valencia by a slim margin back on Sunday, as they consolidate 10-point difference as the toppers of La Liga table. Despite Raphinha scoring the lone goal during the match, it was not the only drama that unfolded at the Camp Nou.

Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres argue over penalty

Ronald Araujo was shown a red card 30 minutes prior to the final whistle for a challenge on forward Hugo Doro and consequently Barcelona went down to 10 men. Even Barcelona boss, Xavi Hernandez later admitted that the red was deserved for the challenge.

Xavi later also made a statement saying that the expulsion was clear since he was the last man, and it was a shame because it was a long ball and they could not clear it well. Xavi also said that for him, personally, it was a red.

However, few minutes before Araujo’s red card, Ferran Torres had missed a penalty, giving away a golden chance at scoring. If successful, Barcelona would have won 2-0. Torres had sent his shot wide.

Xavi reveals order of Barcelona penalty kicks

In a revelation, their was apparently an argument over who would be taking the penalty, and it was between Torres himself and Ansu Fati.

Fati was seen to be annoyed very visibly, and more so after it was missed because he was not allowed to take the penalty which he could have scored. However, coach Xavi later did confirm that the 22-year-old was designed to be the penalty taker.

Xavi stated that there was an order in which the penalties were taken and that it was communicated to the players. Ferran had been on the top of the list which the staff had decided, and the players were well aware of that.
