Ranchi: Ahead of the first of the three T20Is India is going to host for New Zealand, Prithvi Shaw talks about his Team India comeback, his support system that helped him during the hard process, moreover, reuniting with former U-19 teammates and Head Coach Rahul Dravid.
Shaw had last represented India in an international match in a T20I against Sri Lanka on July 25, 2021. Since then, he has piled on the runs in domestic cricket.
After some stellar performance with the bat in the domestic circuit, Prithvi Shaw had made a comeback into the Indian team. He has been named in the 16-member T20I squad to take on New Zealand at home.
The batter mentioned that he is happy to be back in the national side. “It has been long since I was a part of this team, but I am happy to be back,” said Shaw.

Recalling his Test debut the 23-year-old mentions that wearing the Test cap was a proud moment for him. Moreover, says that he always wanted to play Tests for India. “The first-call up was really special,” added Shaw.
Prithvi Shaw, who makes a return to the Indian National Cricket Team after almost 18 months, talks about the “ups and downs” that helped him become a better cricketer.
“There were ups and downs these few years. But you learn something from it. I worked hard and tried to be as cool as possible. Getting the process and routines right,” said Shaw.
The right-handed batsman has rightly earned his spot in the team through consistent performance at the domestic circuit. He recently scored a record-breaking 379 runs against Assam in a Ranji Trophy group stage match in Amingaon. This was the second highest individual score in the history of Ranji Trophy.
He was also one of the leading run-scorers in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Shaw last featured in the Indian team back in July 2021 during the Sri Lanka tour. After toiling hard in domestic cricket, this is a well-deserved call for the Mumbaikar.
