The majority of the awards of the night went to the Argentinian players and coach for their breathtaking victorious performance in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Lionel Messi, without a doubt, took the best player of the year’s award, along with him, Eimiliano Martinez of Argentina, who had also won the Golden Gloves in the World Cup, took the best goalkeeper, and Lionel Scaloni, the Argentinian coach, took away the best coach award.

Surprisingly enough, Argentina fans were the winners of the best fans awards while supporters worldwide had thought the award would be going to the viral fans from Japan, who took Qatar by storm with their etiquettes and mannerisms.

However, in a controversial move by the FIFA, fans felt uncomfortable as they felt that the associations had tried to disrespect the five time Ballon d’Or winner after they played footage of Ronaldo warming the bench.

Fans of Ronaldo took to social media to express their disappointment and stated that “they” had disrespected Ronaldo again. Some fans said that this was not the first time that FIFA had disrespected Cristiano Ronaldo like this.

Others said that it did not look good for FIFA to disrespect a legend like Cristiano like this and that there were other clips available for him, there was no need to disrespect an icon showing him on bench.

The 2022 had not been too kind to the Portuguese legend. Previously he had to depart Manchester United following fallout with club management and coach Ten Hag. Later his dream of winning the World Cup was shattered after a shocking defeat to Morocco where he sat on bench mostly.

However, Ronaldo now has scored his second hat-trick for Al Nassr marking his 62nd career hat-trick at the age of 38 and hopes the year of 2023 be kind to the legend.
