However, after Casemiro was sent off for his “violent conduct” towards Hughes, Jeffrey Schlupp had snatch one goal from United scoring the lone goal for Palace, which resulted in Ten Hag making changes in the final 20 minutes of the match to ensure victory.

Garnacho had earlier entered as a substitute in the second half where he had replaced their new signing Wout Weghorst. However, he was later again substituted off for defender Harry Maguire at the 87th minute.

After Garnacho’s appearance only lasted for a mere 38 minutes, he was seen cutting out frustrations back at the bench.

In speaking about the 18-year-old, Ten Hag acknowledged that it wasn’t always nice to bring off any player who had just got on the pitch, but he also went on to insist that everything was done in the interests of the team.

Ten Hag explained that first they had to see how they [opposition] change, then anticipating and seeing how they could close in, how to be compact, to close the gaps, to get away from own goal but also threatening attack.

He went on to express that they had to change something and that despite it wasn’t always nice to bring off any player who was just substituted in, anything done was for the interest of the whole squad and that the player has to accept that at all cost.

Ten Hag had directly sent this message to the Argentinian 18-year-old who has appeared in a total 10 league matches in the current season and has one goal to his name from previous November, a winning goal against Fulham.

He has started getting regular minutes to his name and has featured in 21 games across all competitions this season, within which he has scored 2 goals.
