Emiliano Martinez holds baby doll with Mbappe’s face during victory parade

The feud between Emiliano Martinez and Kylian Mbappe continues as the Argentina goalkeeper finds a new way to mock the French forward.

Earlier, a video had surfaced online that showcased Emi Martinez asking his teammates to hold a minute silence for Mbappe. This time the Argentine has gone a little further, and mocked Mbappe by holding a baby doll with his face.

What enraged fans the most is the fact that Emi Martinez did something like this during their victory parade, and with Mbappe’s PSG teammate Lionel Messi standing right next to him.

Before jumping to conclusions however, it’s necessary to understand what is really happening. And for that we will have to find the origin of the beef between Martinez and Mbappe.

According to a report published by Indian Express, the feud dates beyond the World Cup itself. What enraged Martinez is a comment by Mbappe that talked about European football having better standards.

Fued between Mbappe and Martinez

“The advantage we have in Europe is that we play among ourselves with high-level matches all the time, such as the Nations League, for example,” Mabappe had said.

The 24-year-old had further added that while France and other European nations came in as favorites, Argentina and Brazil lacked the same class because of the lack of competition they face in South America.

This comment by the Frenchman didn’t sit well with Martinez, who had retorted saying, “He doesn’t know enough about football. He never played in South America. When you don’t have this experience, it may be better not to talk about it. But it doesn’t matter. We are a great team, recognised as such.”

And one can say that Martinez indeed had the last laugh given it was France that wilted under pressure. The Argentine strikers put all their penalties at the back of the net, while French forwards like Kingsley Coman and Tchouameni failed to do so.

As a result, Argentina was crowned champions of the FIFA World Cup 2022.

Martinez won the award for the best keeper of the tournament. He indeed was in his best form and stopped a certain chance by Kolo Muani in the 123rd minute of Extra time to deny France the winner.
