Diego Simeone to take a pay-cut in new Atletico Madrid contract

Diego Simeone is expected to sign a new contract with La Liga giants Atletico Madrid as his current deal expires at the end of this season.

Simeone’s agent and sister, Natalia Simeone, met with the CEO of Atletico Madrid, Miguel Angel Gil Marin to talk over a new contract for the coach.

Furthermore, both Simeone and Atletico’s board members want to reach a new agreement as soon as possible.

The Argentine is also expected to take a huge pay cut in his new contract, and according to Cadena SER, Simeone will reduce his wages by 20-30%.

The Los Rojiblancos are struggling with financial difficulties, and Simeone is currently the highest-paid managers in the world as he earns a whopping €34 million per year. Pep Guardiola sits in second place with €22 million per year.

Nevertheless, he is ready to reduce his wages, which will help the club, and he will still earn a lot of money.
