Delle Alli “Doesn’t Deserve to Play” says Besiktas Boss Gunes

Senol Gunes, Besiktas’ boss has stated that Dele Alli “doesn’t deserve to play” after handing him only one minute in-pitch action in the league since the ending of 2022 October.

Alli had previously joined Besiktas on loan basis during the transfer window last summer from Everton but has only given underwhelming performances in Turkey.

Gunes comes out Guns blazing on Delle Alli

Gunes went on to explain by saying that he doesn’t think Delle Alli deserves to play right now. However, he quickly clarified that they didn’t want to send him back to Everton and still expect him to contribute to the team.

But Gunes also made it clear that he thinks that Alli cannot contribute anything to the team at the moment and that they will be evaluating with both him and the club.

Alli has joined Besiktas under their former boss Valerian Ismael, however, the Frenchman was kicked out of the club earlier in October itself for presenting poor results with the club. It was then that ex-Turkey manager Gunes had been welcomed to the club for a second spell.

Despite Gunes naming Alli in his starting XI for his first match as a manager, he had called him off to the bench only 45 minutes into the match.

Alli has since been spotted warming the bench and has become an almost unused substitute. What made the situation worse was when he was named in the starters for their match against Sanliurfaspor, he was hauled off only 29 minutes into the match. To make the situation more embarrassing, Besiktas went to win the match 4-2 without Alli.

These events have proved one thing crystal clear that he isn’t the favourite of his new boss and his situation in the club is far from improving.

Alli, who was once a much-celebrated player in the Premier League when he peaked for Tottenham, has his career dangling by the throat currently after failed performances and failure to regain form in multiple clubs, first in Tottenham itself, followed by Everton, and now in Turkey as well.
