Declan Rice Dropped from Arsenal’s Pre-season Win Over Barcelona Due to Injury

In a shocking decision, the newly transferred Declan Rice was dropped out from Arsenal’s pre-season squad against Barcelona as a precaution from injury. This had reportedly been the result of him suffering a knock during the training before the match which Arsenal ultimately won.

According to the Gunners’ boss Mikel Arteta, they had no intention of risking an injury to the most hyped transfer of the club this summer widow, that too during the final match of the United States tour.

It was stated by Arteta that Rice, who was signed earlier this month for 105 million euros had not been comfortable during the training session from the past two days because of which Arsenal made the decision of leaving him out of the match against Barcelona.

Despite not having their star transfer, Arsenal managed to beat La Liga champions, Barcelona in a stunning 5-3 match in Los Angeles.

After the match was over, Arteta explained that Declan had made quite a strong kick during the training and expressed that he did not want to take any rick since he was not comfortable in training both yesterday and today, resulting in the decision to not play him.

Another player who had missed the match against the Catalan giants was Oleksandr Zinchenko, and as per Arteta, he had again unfortunately suffered a muscle injury. Arteta also made sure to inform that he will be back soon and that it was shame that he wasn’t a part of the entire tour of the US.

Golden signing Leandro Trossard was also praised by Mikel Arteta after he had netted a brilliant second half brace against the Spanish giants. The January signing of the Gunners seems to have been worth every penny, at least in pre-season.

Arteta said that it was great to see him [Trossard] score since he’s been working so hard and hence, he arrived in a great condition for the pre-season.

“He’s a player that gives us something very different to the wingers that we have, and he’s got incredible versatility and predictability to play in the positions”, concluded the Arsenal boss.
