The six-times Ballon D’or winner Cristiano Ronaldo is set to be fined by his own club Manchester United for bombarding the club, its executives, and its manager alike with attacks on the explosive Pierce Morgan interview.

The controversial interview with the British journalist has been stirring quite a squabble on and off every platform and media house in Europe, in which Ronaldo ‘exposed’ and attacked Erik ten Hag and the club’s evergreen star, Wayne Rooney.

Manchester United, amidst this tug of controversy and tinge of humiliation, has now decided to fine the 37-year-old star football a staggering amount of approximately £1M, which technically isn’t worth a lot to the wealthiest footballer on the planet. But the risk of a shattered image it might cause is something that all those wishing for the player’s downfall are awaiting.

Ronaldo fined by Manchester United

This isn’t the first time United officials have decided to take such strict measures against their legendary player. Earlier this year, in October, Ronaldo was fined two weeks’ worth of wages when he refused to play on the field as a substitute against Hotspur giants; instead, he chose to walk the path ‘lone down the tunnel even before the match was over.

It’s about time United let go of their star player’s old glories and moved on. But even if most United fans think of Ronaldo as a narcissist who wants all the attention on himself and cannot accept the fact that he is no longer apex in the game;

We should never let anyone forget a few facts, the last time Manchester United won the UCL, Ronaldo won it for them; the last time United had a Ballon D’or winner, it was Ronaldo in 2008; and the last time a midfielder won a Golden Boot, it was Ronaldo in 2008.

But coming back to the present, Ronaldo probably has had his ‘last supper’ for United, and he could be and should be released in the January transfer window. Nevertheless, the truth remains that Ronaldo’s legacy is United’s legacy and vice versa.
