Chelsea to Remove Player from Champions League to Add Felix and Other New Transfers

Premier League giants, Chelsea, who have pulled some shiny transfers in the January transfer window will unfortunately be unable to register all of their new signings for their Champions League squad.

However, there is a way to include their new arrivals, which means removing a player who is currently in the squad and this is where is gets interesting.

The blues have recently revealed Mykhailo Mudryk as the fifth signing of January after 1-0 home victory over Crustal Palace on Sunday.

They had snatched the Mudryk deal from their Premier League rivals and table toppers, Arsenal after matching his asking price of 87 million before the Gunners.

He became last but not the least player to join Joao Felix, Andrey Santos, Benoit Badiashile, and David Datro Fifana as part of Graham Potter’s new collection at the Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea to make room for Felix, Mudryk, etc.

The blues were in dire need of reinforcements after the roughly poor performances they portrayed in the first half of the seasons and piling injuries.

However, we can all agree that after the signings, the squad has been overflowing and needs some clearing.

They are now full of non-home players, more than what is permitted for a Champions League squad. According to the rules, only 17 non-homegrown players are allowed to be registered, whereas Chelsea now have 18 total in their pockets.

Graham Potter has in his hands the power to include the new signings by removing an existing player who had helped Chelsea last year. The three players who are being expected to be added are Felix, Mudryk, and Badiashile.

According to reports, some easy guesses for players to be removed are Christian Pulisic, Denis Zakaria, and N’Golo Kante owing to their injury issues.

While Kante has not played since August due to his hamstring problem, Pulisic is also missing the next 2 months owing to a knee injury. Zakaria is also suffering from a quadriceps issue currently.
