Third Test between India and Australia moved from Dharamshala to Indore; know details

It’s official, the BCCI has finally announced it’s verdict on the HCPA stadium in Dharamshala, and the third match of the series is set to be moved out.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has had their reasons to reschedule the venue. And now, the game is all set to take place in the Holkar Stadium, Indore.

BCCI shift venue from Dharamshala to Indore

In a media release BCCI put out today they pointed out that the playing conditions at the HCPA were not up to the mark. This has nothing to do with the lack of initiative by the ground staff. Rather, the weather has been unkind in that part of the country.

BCCI said, “owing to harsh winter conditions in the region that outfield lacks sufficient grass density and will need to some time to develop fully.”

Hence, the Holkar stadium, that has only hosted 2 tests as of now, is all set for a third one. It will be the first test in nearly four years, the last game played on this venue was way back in 2019, when India took on Bangladesh.

What can be expected from Holkar Stadium, Indore?

The ground so far has appeared to be a batter’s paradise. The first test played on this ground was way back in 2016 and it was a run feast.

Virat Kohli scored a double hundred, Rahane scored a 188, and Pujara scored a century in that game as well. Therefore, it can be considered as the right ground for a great duel between the bat and ball.

The first match was a no contest, between bat and ball, especially when Australia batted. They were cleaned up in a single session on the third day and India won the game by an inning and 232 runs to spare.

So, Australia will be licking their lips to get to bat on a run-fest wicket. But before that they have to overcome the Delhi Challenge in second test which starts from 17th Feb.

With Mitchell Starc and possibly Cameroon Green returning to the side, Australia will be looking to bounce back from the slump they faced in the first test.
