Ben White Leaves World Cup Squad After Alleged Clash with Assistant Manager

English defender Ben White had earlier flown back from Qatar to London amidst the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. It is reported that the defender’s decision to fly back had come after an alleged conflict with their assistant manager Steve Holland.

Ben White had returned to his nation, England, leaving their World Cup campaign in between following an alleged clash with the team’s assistant boss Steve Holland.

He left the Three Lions’ training camp based in Al Wakrah on Qatari soil the previous week to return to London. The Football Association stated that it was due to personal reasons.

Insiders reported that the Arsenal defender had become unhappy after struggling to get along with his fellow England teammates in the English camp.

The last straw of his patience was drawn after having an all-out argument with the national team’s assistant manager, Holland, who is second in charge after Gareth Southgate, in front of the entire squad.

According to sources, the two exchanged a chain of direct and harsh words after the defender had turned up for a team meeting before their clash with the USA in the group stages without knowing some important information about his personal stats.

It is said that Holland was also disappointed with White’s poor knowledge about their opponent USA right before their clash. These events led to a mutual decision to release him from the tournament.

The defender will no longer be returning to Qatar to join his team again after failing to make appearances in all three group-stage matches played by the team in the World Cup.

White was also accompanied by Raheem Sterling while flying back home due to an armed burglary in his family home.

But unlike Ben White, Raheem Sterling has returned to Qatar to rejoin the English squad to continue the rest of the campaign. Sterling will be all set on the bench for their quarterfinal clash against the defending champions, France.
