“Barcelona Banned from Entering Summer Transfer Market” Says La Liga Chief

Javier Tebas, the La Liga chief has revealed that Barcelona can no longer sign any more players to add to their squad for the upcoming summer transfer market.

Barcelona have been reportedly told that they must free £178 million any how from their budget before they could sign any new players in the coming summer window,

Barcelona banned from making summer signings

The Blaugranas had spent big time from their pockets back in 2022 for star players like Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Jules Kounde despite suffering from financial issues. Barca are still said to be in debt even after triggering several economic layers to afford their expensive outlay.

The La Liga chief stated that as of today Barca did not have any room inside their financial budget to spend anymore in the summer transfer window of 2023.

He went on to state that Barcelona had been involved in controversial and questionable behaviour impacting La Liga entirely, forcing the league to act accordingly and hence ruling out signing any more new players for Barca.

Barcelona to sell star players to raise money

Tebas continued his harsh words saying that Barca had sold their TV rights previously for £620m, leading them to find different ways of solving the matter; however, Barca won’t be able to do the same in the next season.

“We have strict economic controls. At the end of each window, we tell all the clubs in LaLiga what they can spend,” he stated.

Tebas also suggested that in Barca’s case, they could drop spendings from their wages budget and transfers from £532m to £399m, making it a budget of minus £177m. Another suggestion was to encourage them to sell players.

However, Joan Laporta has been adamant on his stance that the Catalan giants would not need to sell any of their star players in the summer window.

“We don’t need to sell any important players. We will reinforce the squad,” said Laporta.
