Barcelona 3-0 Real Madrid; Catalans Thrash Real Madrid in El Classico Victory

It was the latest edition of the El Classico night in Arlington earlier and the La Liga champions, FC Barcelona thrashed arch-rivals Real Madrid comfortably in a 3-0 victory.

Barcelona beat Real Madrid 3-0 in pre-season friendly

The Catalan club went into their pre-season friendly clash against their rivals without some of their key players like Pablo Gavi and Inigo Martinez, who were previously ruled out owing to injury concerns after they were also named in the substitute list.

Oriol Romeu, the defensive midfielder who is a brand new signing for Barcelona made the first of their many deadly shots as a long-range attempt at the net in the 4th minute of the match itself. The ball despite beating Thibaut Courtois, hit the crossbar and cannoned back missing the goal.

However, soon enough after a free kick, it was none other than the French international Ousmane Dembele who netted the ball directly beating Courtois and put Xavi’s squad into the lead with an early goal in the 15th minute of the match itself.

Real Madrid bottled up their opportunity to score an equalizing goal as Vinicius Junior missed a perfect shot from the penalty spot, which had been awarded due to a handball by Ronal Araujo. The penalty hit the woodwork instead of the goal.

Both sides of Barcelona and Real Madrid saw their plays breaking into small skirmishes on the pitch after a rash physical challenge by Barca midfielder Frenkie de Jong on Madrid’s defender, Eder Militao during the last minutes of the first half resulted in a yellow card for de Jong.

Dembele, Ferran Torres, Fermin Lopez give Barcelona el classico win

One of the best chances for the Los Blancos within the first 45 minutes of the match came after a well-taken free kick by Aurelien Tchouameni, which had forced Barcelona’s veteran goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen into saving the ball with all his efforts.

Tchouameni did not stop there and kept up his efforts of finding an opening in the wall of Barcelona’s defense, remaining a looming threat even in the second half, especially with another powerful shot from a distance which hit the crossbar and forced Ter Stegen into making a stunning follow-up save.

However, Fermin Lopez came from the bench to seal Barcelona a definitive opening win of the summer 2023 with a wonderfully placed shot in the 84th minute of the match right before it would hit the 90 minute mark.

Depressingly for the Los Blancos, it was not the last goal of the match, a third goal followed shortly after in the 90+1 minute of the game netted perfectly over the head by Ferran Torres, which became the late winning goal that seal the 3-0 humiliating el classico defeat for Madrid.
