Barcelona 1-0 Real Sociedad; Barca Through to Semi-finals of Copa del Rey

The quarterfinal match between two Spanish giants, FC Barcelona and Real Sociedad unfolded in the home ground of Camp Nou, which was thrilled to see Barcelona take over the pitch with a 1-0 victory over Sociedad and seal their spot in the semi-finals of the Copa Del Rey.

Dembele goal sees Barcelona to semi-finals

Barcelona’s progress to the final four of the tournament was in no way easy because Real Sociedad arrived at the Camp Nou with a nine-match winning streak and grabbing a victory over them was only possible because of the amazing squad depth that Xavi has created.

Although Real Sociedad did have a very disciplined defense to their part which caught the Barcelona attack offside many times, it was Ousmane Dembele, the man himself, who scored the winning lone goal of the match for Barcelona at the 52nd minute of the match.

Barcelona’s key to victory had been their relentless effort at attack throughout the 93 total minutes played along with the key player, Ousmane Dembele who completely has changed their attack with his ever-evolving and improving play.

Dembele received a standing ovation from the Camp Nou which reflects exactly how far he has come than where he was exactly 1 year back. Dembele was also the player to create the most chances and complete most dribbles in first 45 minutes of the game.

Barcelona dominated the match with their confidence and possession in front of a denfese which wasn’t as easy to penetrate through. Barcelona did miss a lot of chances at the goal and an opportunity to grab a easy victory in front of the 10 man squad.

Ter Stegen makes key saves, red card to Sociedad player

The rough play from Sociedad’s end, including several blows and elbows to Gavi and Pedri, could not earn them a victory but sure earned them a yellow card turned red card after a VAR check going to Brais Mendez for his tackle on Sergio Busquets.

Barcelona had a great match which was full of fast passes by the players and quick moves into any open space by the Barca midfield, along with a courageous defense where Ter Stegen emerged again as a wall in front of the goal making many key saves which helped Barcelona maintain a cleansheet.
