200,000 Fans Sign Petition to FIFA for Replaying France Vs. Argentina final

Almost 200,000 disappointed and angered supporters and fans worldwide have now signed a petition that demands the FIFA governing body to reorganize and replay the World Cup final that was played between France and Argentina.

The World cup 2022 finals were held at the Lusail Stadium, Qatar on 18th of December which ultimately ended in a sensational and nail-biting Argentinian victory over the 2018 defending champions, France.

Argentina had taken a two-goal early lead onto the game, with a Lionel Messi penalty earned by di Maria and the second coming from Angel di Maria himself. On the contrary, the French front was almost invisible throughout the first half, awakening only towards the end with Mbappe’s lead.

Kylian Mbappe had stolen the show back in favour of the Europeans with a record-breaking hat-trick, but he sadly still ended up on the losing side with silver medal after the South Americans regained their lot lead in the final moments of extra time.

They went on to win in a decisive penalty shootout moment where Argentina had triumphed over France in a 4-2 scoreline, Emi Martinez had emerged as a hero following the victory after which he had also won the Golden Glove.

This humiliating defeat of being so close and yet so far from victory had left bitterness among the French fan over the globe. They reportedly have a feeling that something felt ‘off’ about the finals that were played in Qatar.

A fan has asked the FIFA governing body to hold a replay for the Argentina vs France match, speculating that the penalty awarded was unfair, he also went ahead to claim Mbappe was fouled in the lead-up to Di Maria’s goal.

About 200,000 people have now signed this particular petition which demands the FIFA authority to rerun the World Cup finals of 2022.

But if we see things as they are, there is absolutely zero chances for the governing body to be hosting the France versus Argentina finals once again despite however much popular the petition gets.
