Zlatan Ibrahimovic retires from football at 41

AC Milan legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic retires from football at the age of 41. The striker announced his retirement after Milan’s last game of the season against Hellas Verona. Zlatan was in tears while bidding his farewell at the San Siro.

Zlatan’s managed to feature only four times this season. His last appearance was against Udinese on March 18. The Swedish striker suffered a lot of injury crisis in the past two season, which kept him out for a long time.

The Swede international represented Malmo, Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, FC Barcelona, PSG, Man United and the LA Galaxy during his beautiful spell. He also won league titles in Spain, France, Netherlands and Italy.

It is still unknown what he will do after his retirement. But he will avoid being a manager for sometime now.

The striker ruled out his retirement in an interview with La Gazzetta Dello Sport and expressed his desire to help Milan on the field.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic retires from football after 24 years

The Swedish striker scored 511 goals in 866 matches and 62 goals for Sweden in 122 appearances. Ibrahimovic emotionally told Milan fans that he was saying “Goodbye to football, but not to you”

The AC Milan fans brought a Tifo for their legend at the San Siro, spelling out “Godbye”. After that, Ibrahimovic was given a guard of honour by Rossoneri teammates.

Zlatan thanked his family, the players, Milan manager Stefano Pioli and his staff at the pitch after full-time.

The 41-year-old striker started his professional career at Malmo in 1999 and left for Ajax in 2001. After that, he played for big clubs like FC Barcelona, Inter Milan and Manchester United.

He arrived at AC Milan for his second spell at the club. He helped them winning the Scudetto in 2011 already, and won the league title last season again.

Milan winger celebrated his 2nd and 3rd goal against Hellas Verona with the Veteran Striker on the sidelines as Milan beat Hellas Verona 3-1.
