WTC Final 2023: Virat Kohli suffers Injury scare ahead of the Ultimate Test, Sanjay Bangar provides update

WTC Final 2023, IND vs AUS: Prior to the India vs Australia World Test Championship Final in 2023, Indian cricket sensation Virat Kohli was in danger of suffering an injury. After the Royal Challengers Bangalore club was eliminated from the current Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL 2023) on Sunday, head coach Sanjay Bangar announced the same.

After losing to Gujarat Titans on Sunday, May 21, RCB was disqualified from the IPL 2023. Shubman Gill outdid Virat Kohli with an excellent century in the chase, negating his stunning innings of 101* that allowed RCB to reach 197. More than RCB’s loss, Kohli’s decision to sit in the bench for the game’s final five overs frightened the crowd.

India’s World Test Championship (WTC) final matchup against Australia is in two weeks, therefore Virat Kohli’s injury has generated a lot of attention. He has been spotted sitting dejectedly on the bench as he watches his team lose games since the 15th over of the second inning.

While taking a catch to stop Vijay Shankar in the 15th over of Vijaykumar Vyshak’s bowling, the former RCB skipper hurt his knee.

While receiving prompt medical care, Kohli left the pitch and did not come back. According to an update given by RCB head coach Sanjay Bangar at the post-game news conference, the injury is not serious.

“Yeah, he had a bit of a niggle in his knee. But I don’t think there is anything serious. Having score two back-to-back hundreds within a gap of 4 days. He is somebody who not only wants to contribute with the bat but even when he is fielding. He did a lot of running around. 40 overs a couple of days ago and today, for 35 overs he was on the field. He was giving his best. So it is going to bother at some point but I don’t think its anything serious.”

Bangar said

Given that RCB has been eliminated from the IPL 2023, Virat Kohli will likely be among the first group of players to head to England for the WTC Final.
