WPL 2023: Tata Group to be Title Sponsorship of Inaugural Edition of Women Premier League
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Tuesday, named Tata as the title sponsor for the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023. TATA, thereby, happens to be the title sponsor, now for both the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the WPL.
TATA announced as new title partner of WPL 2023
A BCCI source told PTI that Tata has secured the rights for five years. The Indian multinational conglomerate had last year replaced Vivo as the title sponsor for the Indian Premier League. The first edition will be played in Mumbai across two venues — Brabourne Stadium and DY Patil Stadium.
The tender documents for bagging the title rights were up for grabs until February 9 and as per a BCCI statement, “The detailed terms and conditions governing the tender process including eligibility requirements, process for submissions of bids, rights and obligations of the title sponsor, etc. are contained in the ‘Request for Proposal’ (“RFP”) which will be made available on receipt of payment of a non-refundable fee of INR 1,00,000 (Indian Rupees One Lakh Only) plus any applicable Goods and Services Tax. The procedure to procure the RFP documents is enlisted in Annexure A to this notice. The RFP will be available for purchase till February 9, 2023.”
Jay Shah declared Tata Group as the Title Sponsor of WPL 2023
Tata Group on Tuesday bagged the title rights for the inaugural Women’s Premier League beginning in Mumbai on March 4. “I am delighted to announce the #TataGroup as the title sponsor of the inaugural #WPL. With their support, we’re confident that we can take women’s cricket to the next level,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah tweeted. The financials of the deal was not revealed.
The WPL 2023 will begin with a clash between Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians on 4 March 2023 at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra.
