Would like to Keep Messi at PSG: Luis Campos confirms Contract talks with Messi

The Sporting Director of Paris Saint Germain officially confirmed today that the club are in talks with the World Cup Winner Lionel Messi over the possibility of agreeing on a new contract.

The club are in talks with him cause his deal is going to expire this summer and is recently linked with a move away from the French side in recent months.

The Argentine had joined PSG back in 2021 and had signed a 2-year deal with an option to extend it for another 12 months after he was forced to leave his childhood club Barcelona due to their financial difficulties.

Campos on keeping Messi at Paris

Messi recently has been in the form of his life and he also achieved his lifetime dream as he won the FIFA World Cup with Argentina in Qatar and since then he has been in a happy place. Despite being 35 years old He was still the player of the tournament at the World Cup.

Apart from his national team, he has been outperforming himself at PSG too as this season he has been involved in 29 goal contributions in 24 matches.

So there is no doubt that even at this age every club would like to sign him and hence PSG simply have to convince him to stay. Messi has already won the league with the French club in his last season and this time out he would be surely going for Champions League success and deliver the first UCL title in Paris. Messi will now lead the team against Bayern Munich in the Round of 16 as Kylian Mbappe is injured.

About his renewal, Luis Campos spoke to the media and he said, “At the moment we are in discussions. I would like to have Messi in this project, I can’t hide it. I would be delighted if he continues with us. We are (still) in discussions at the moment to achieve this objective and to keep Lionel Messi at PSG.”
