Chattogram: India has defeated the series host Bangladesh to take a 1-0 lead in the 2-match series. The 188-run feat has provided the Men in Blue with 12 points to climb over Sri Lanka in the World Test Championship standings. Before this victory, India was in the fourth position with a win percentage of 52.08. However, with this, they have secured the third with a win percentage of 55.77.
On top of that, Bangladesh remain on the ninth and the last last position. Earlier with 13.33 win percentage, which has now dropped to 12.12.

Team Australia is on top of the World Test Championship standings, with 108 points and 75 win percentage. Moreover, South Africa remains in the second spot with 60 win percentage and 72 points. With India climbing up a spot, Sri Lanka has lost their third position and slipped to the fourth. While, England, Pakistan, West Indies, Bangladesh, along with, previous year’s champions New Zealand are already out of the running.

Good News for India
The good news for India is that the only two teams ahead of India that is Australia and South Africa are currently battling it out in a three-match series in Australia, meaning India may be able to make further inroads during the remainder of their series in Bangladesh.
The second and final Test of the series commences in Mirpur on Thursday and another win there could see India close in on the leading two teams.
Moreover, India host Australia for four Test matches during February and March next year and needs to finish in the top two places on the standings to make back-to-back appearances in the World Test Championship final.
