Who is Titas Sadhu? The 18-year-old who paved India’s way to Historical Gold in Asian Games 2023

Titas Sadhu, a teenage prodigy from West Bengal, played a vital role in the Indian Women’s team winning the first Asian Games Gold Medal in 2023. She received the well-deserved award for Player of the Match for her recent outstanding performance in the U-19 T20 World Cup final game in South Africa, when she claimed two wickets for six runs. She took a total of six wickets during that event, continually showcasing her skill.

Titas made her Asian Games 2023 debut for the Indian team when they faced Sri Lanka in the championship game. She had a remarkable four-over session where she grabbed three wickets while only allowing six runs to be scored. Her excellent contribution enabled India to successfully defend their modest goal and win the first gold medal at an Asian Games.

The road to prosperity for Titas has not been simple. Nobody would have anticipated that she would join the Indian Cricket Team five years ago. Titas made the decision to pursue cricket as her interest despite having a stunning 93% grade in her school leaving examinations and being an accomplished sprinter and swimmer. Her father, former athlete Ranadeep Sadhu, who currently oversees a cricket academy in Hoogly, has had a big impact on her cricketing career.

Titas Sadhu first played cricket when she was a young girl, helping her father keep score at the historical cricket club that belonged to their family. When her father casually encouraged her to bowl one rainy day, Titas promptly demonstrated her skill.

She made an effort to join the State trials when she was 13 but was first turned down. However, Titas was not discouraged by this setback; rather, it strengthened her resolve. She persisted in putting in a lot of effort and honing her talents, finally capturing the eye of selectors and being given a berth on the senior Bengal squad at the age of just 16.

Titas hasn’t looked back since then. Her excellent bowling abilities have attracted notice and are regularly amazed. She has additionally demonstrated that she is a valuable asset with the bat.
