In the series finale versus India, West Indies won the toss and decided to bowl. Given the gravity of the match, it was predicted that India would play at full strength, with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli returning to the starting 11.

That wasn’t the case, though, as the veterans kept sitting in the dressing room. Axar Patel and Umran Malik were replaced by Jaydev Unadkat and Ruturaj Gaikwad, although the team still made two changes.

“Two changes for us. Ruturaj comes in place of Umran and Unadkat comes in place of Axar. Going to the decider the boys are pumped up and looking forward to the game. Looks good (the surface), I don’t think much will change, batting first gives a good opportunity for us to set a good total,” said Hardik Pandya at the toss.

Indian fans did not take kindly to the decision to rest Kohli and Rohit in the series finale. Consequently, slammed the Indian captain and head coach for not including Kohli in the second consecutive ODI.

India lost the second ODI, with the two senior players not being part of the Playing XI. Nonetheless, the absence of the star players made netizens slam the decision as there is hardly anytime left in the Asia Cup and the ICC World Cup 2023.

While an internet user wrote, “Time to stand against conspiracy by BCCI and MUMBAI LOBBY for our idol. Enough is Enough.” another claimed, “This duo (Rohit Sharma + Rahul Dravid = ROVID) is ruining our Indian cricket team.”
