West Ham win Europa Conference League after Bowen’s late strike

West Ham win the Europa Conference League beating Fiorentina 2-1, after Jarrod Bowen’s winner.

The match got of to a cagey start, as fans were throwing beer cups on Fiorentina captain Cristiano Biraghi. His head was heavily bleeding, but he continued to play.

And to make it more miserable for the Italian side, they had the opening goal from Luka Jovic, but later it was ruled offside.

Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Italiano subbed off Luka Jovic for Arthur Cabral. It was another poor game for the Serbian striker, who also missed a lot of chances against Inter in the Coppa Italia final.

Moyes’s side also needed to step up their game, and in the second half Biraghi committed a handball in the box. Said Benrahma stepped up and scored the penalty to take the lead.

The lead wouldn’t last long, as West Ham caught napping after scoring the goal. Five minutes after scoring a goal the Hammers conceded a goal. As Giacomo Bonaventura equalised after some brilliant close control.

Chances for a late winner were very few for both sides, until Bowen came out of nowhere and scored the winner in the 90th minute.

The Englishman found some space, looked up, and slotted home the winner, his fifth goal in the competition.

West Ham win Europa Conference League and ending 43-year trophy drought

It was not a easy campaign for West Ham and David Moyes, they struggled in the Premier League, and Moyes was a game away from being sacked.

The Hammers were playing their first major European final in 47 years. Declan Rice captained the side in what could be his last game for West Ham.

Rice kept West Ham’s midfield ticking until the very end. However, after winning the Conference League, West Ham will look forward to play in the Europa League next season.
