“We are excited to play against India”: Nepal’s Captain Rohit Paudel on facing India for the first time in international cricket

India will take on Nepal in its next game in the Asia Cup. This will be the first meeting between the two neighbors in international cricket. Men in Blue find themselves in an interesting situation as they will have to win against Nepal to avoid a group stage exit from the tournament which looks highly unlikely but as they say, cricket is a game of uncertainties India would not like to take Nepal lightly after their spirited performance with the ball against Pakistan where they had them reeling at 124-4 at one stage in the opening game of the tournament.

Meanwhile, in a recent development, it is being reported that Jasprit Bumrah has returned home for the birth of his first child and will miss India’s game against Nepal. The fast bowler is expected to return for the Super Four stage of the tournament.

A Historic Moment

Rohit Paudel who interacted with media on the eve of the match said that the team is excited to play against India. In the words of Rohit, “We are excited to play against India. India is a big country. We are all excited to represent Nepal against India on the biggest stage.” When asked about Nepal’s plan to tackle the experienced duo of Rohit and Virat Nepal’s captain said “Virat and Rohit have been the stars for their country for over ten years. We have made plans to tackle them and hopefully, we will execute them tomorrow.”

Rohit Paudel acknowledged the fact that playing against India will be a fan-boy moment for him and his team but he also said that once they step on the field both teams will be determined to secure a win.

No room for Complacency

India would be very of its past experiences of playing against an associate nation in the Asia Cup after what happened against Hong Kong in the 2018 Asia Cup when the opening pair of Hong Kong almost did the unthinkable by running India close in a hard-fought match which India eventually won
