WATCH: Prithvi Shaw makes cryptic gesture towards DC’s dressing room following half-century
On Wednesday, May 17, at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, the David Warner-led Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) squared off in the 64th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bat first. Prithvi Shaw and captain David Warner both appeared to be in excellent form as the game got underway. Shaw, 23, had a very happy evening because it was his first successful knock in some weeks.
Before the team’s match against Punjab in 2023, Shaw has only managed to score 47 runs in six IPL contests.After some time, he was granted the option to join the group, and he did so with abandon. Shaw scored 54 runs off 38 pitches, ending a streak of bad luck for him.
Shaw enjoyed a lavish celebration as he reached his 50. The 23-year-old pointed to the dressing room by making the letter “M” with his hands. The celebration’s ambiguous nature bewildered its audience.
Delhi beats Punjab Kings: knock them out of tournament
Rilee Rossouw scored 82* runs in just 37 balls to help the team to a massive total of 213 runs at Dharamsala after Shaw and Warner’s stellar beginnings. Shaw and Warner were both dismissed by Sam Curran, the only bowler from Punjab to record a wicket.
Shikhar Dhawan was given the golden duck dismissal as Punjab entered to try and reach the goal. Additionally, Prabhsimran Singh was fired by Axar Patel after only 22 runs. Punjab was only a matter of inches away from winning, though, with to the strikes of Atharva Taide and Liam Livingstone.
Livingstone made 94 runs in 48 balls and helped his team come incredibly close to a victory while Taide amassed 55 runs in 42 deliveries before being pulled out. Nevertheless, the game was ultimately lost since Delhi Capitals won by 15 runs, which prevented Punjab from advancing to the playoffs.
