WATCH: ‘He said things he shouldn’t have said’ – Sreesanth slams Gautam Gambhir

Sreesanth, a vital member of India’s triumphant 2007 T20 Cricket World Cup and 2011 ODI Cricket World Cup-winning squads expressed discontent with his former Indian cricket teammate Gautam Gambhir following a Legends League Cricket (LLC) match in Surat on Wednesday.

The tension between the two escalated during the LLC, a tournament designed for retired cricket stars, evident in a viral video on social media. The footage captured Sreesanth, playing for Gujarat Giants, delivering a prolonged stare at Gautam Gambhir of India Capitals after conceding a six and a four. The former Indian cricket team opener responded with an equally intense stare.

Gautam Gambhir contributed 51 runs off 30 balls, leading India Capitals to a total of 223/7 in 20 overs in the LLC Eliminator match. Sreesanth, bowling for Gujarat Giants, took 1/35 in three overs. However, Gujarat Giants managed 211/7 in their 20 overs, falling short by 12 runs.

Post-match, Sreesanth took to Instagram to address the incident and express his dissatisfaction with Gautam Gambhir’s behavior.

“I want to clarify what happened with Mr. Fighter, someone who always engages in altercations with his colleagues for no apparent reason. He lacks respect for even his senior players, including Viru Bhai. That’s precisely what occurred today. Without any provocation, he kept using language that was disrespectful and shouldn’t have come from Mr. Gautam Gambhir,” stated Sreesanth in a video posted on his Instagram page.

Sreesanth also hinted at making Gautam Gambhir’s comments public shortly

“I am not at fault here. I just wanted to clear the air immediately. What Mr. Gauti has done, sooner or later, all of you will find out. The words he used and the things he said on the cricket field, live, are not acceptable. My family, my state, everyone has gone through so much. I fought that battle with all your support. Now people want to criticize me for no reason. He said things he shouldn’t have said. I will surely let you know what he said,” added Sreesanth.

“What’s the point of representing people if you don’t respect your own colleagues? Even in broadcasting, when asked about Virat, he never speaks positively about him. I don’t want to delve into further details. I just want to say I am very hurt, and my family, my dear ones are hurt. The way he said things… I haven’t used a single bad word or a single abuse, nothing. He just kept on saying words, which he always does,” concluded Sreesanth.
