Vitor Roque: FC Barcelona confirms Tigrinho’s official jersey number; slated for a possible debut against Las Palmas

FC Barcelona’s latest recruit Vitor Roque has been handed his new jersey number after the Brazilian prodigy as joined forces with the defending Spanish champions. He is slated for a possible debut in Barca’s next game against Las Palmas, which is on 4th January, 2024.

Vitor Roque to continue Brazilian legacy

FC Barcelona and Brazil seemed to have a long camaraderie which has lasted since ages. It started with one of Brazil’s greats, Ronaldinho, who had left his legacy at the ranks of Catalan giants, introducing another legendary figure for Barca in the coming years, Lionel Messi to the international stage. Ronaldinho has been a legend when he was brought on deck by Barcelona, as his departure left huge boots to fill in, with Messi and David Villa stepping up to fill that void, and creating their own legacy.

Ronaldinho’s stint was followed by the arrival of another Brazilian prodigy, Neymar, from the streets of Santos. The Brazilian stalwart, who is currently playing for Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal, has etched his name in the history books among one of the greatest ever to grace Camp Nou. Neymar formed an invaluable trident with two of his mates from Latin America- Lionel Messi from Argentina and Luis Suarez from Uruguay. thus completing one of the greatest troikas ever to play for the Catalan giants.

Barcelona’s newest Brazilian kid, Vitor Roque, is set to grab the headlines after wreaking havoc in the colors of Brazilian club Atletico Paranaense. Nicknamed Tigrinho, owing to his playing finesse and post-goal celebrations, the 18-year old youngster has steered himself to the top, thus earning a well-deserved signing for La Liga giants FC Barcelona.

Awaiting debut against Las Palmas?

There seems to be unending expectations for the youngster from Brazil, who has impressed Xavi and other legends with his exuberant footwork and skills, as he was signed for the club last summer, but due to Barca’s financial constraints and La Liga’s stringent transfer policies, he had to spend half-season at his former club. He has been brought to the club, but his registration with the league still remains a concern.

Despite this information, it is expected that every hardship will be covered by Thursday, as Tigrinho would be set to wear the Blaugranas jersey for the first time, as Xavi’s brigade travels to Gran Canaria to play against Las Palmas, which is set to be their first match of 2024.

The Brazilian is slated to don the jersey for seven years, till 2030-31 season, and is wearing the No. 19 on his back. Among the former No.19 jersey holders, Lionel Messi used to wear this number when he arrived in Spain, before taking the famous No.10 which was previously worn by another Brazilian hero Ronaldinho.

Thus, Tigrinho’s debut, which in expected for this week, might be imminent as he would be eager to emulate the feat what his predecessors did with this legendary club, as he needs to adapt himself to the playing style in Spain.
