Kohli, determined to turn the page after the World Cup final loss, surpassed the legendary Rahul Dravid’s record on Day 1 of the match.

Playing his 15th Test against South Africa, Kohli needed 16 runs to surpass Rahul Dravid’s tally of 1252 runs against Proteas in Tests. The Indian skipper not only achieved this feat but went on to accumulate a total of 1274 runs against South Africa in Tests, with an impressive average of 55.39.

Virat Kohli’s exceptional performance propelled him to the third position in the list of Test run-scorers for India against South Africa. He surpassed Rahul Dravid, who was occupying the third spot before the opening Test. With the potential to climb further, Kohli aims to surpass Virender Sehwag, currently in the second position with 1306 runs, and ultimately chase down Sachin Tendulkar’s top position with 1741 runs.

World Cup Success and Records

Before this Test series, Virat Kohli delivered a stellar performance in the World Cup, finishing as the highest run-scorer with an outstanding tally of 765 runs in 11 matches, boasting an average of 95.62. Kohli’s remarkable run in the competition included three centuries and six fifties, solidifying his stature as one of the world’s best batsmen.

Not only did Kohli shine in the World Cup, but he also made history by surpassing his childhood hero Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most ODI centuries. In a crucial semifinal against New Zealand, Kohli achieved his 50th ODI century, a momentous occasion that marked his dominance in limited-overs cricket.
