Tushar Deshpande Sets Unwanted Record for Most Runs Conceded in a Single Season

In a season filled with memorable moments, IPL 2023 witnessed some record-breaking performances. Tushar Deshpande, the pacer for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), unfortunately, set an unwanted record for conceding the most runs in a single IPL season.

On the other hand, the final between CSK and Gujarat Titans showcased the Titans’ dominance as they posted a mammoth total. Let’s delve into the details of these remarkable achievements.

Tushar Deshpande’s Unfortunate Record

Tushar Deshpande had a challenging season as he conceded a staggering 564 runs during IPL 2023. His performance in the final match against Gujarat Titans was particularly disheartening, with Deshpande being hammered for 56 runs in just four overs.

Surpassing Prasidh Krishna’s previous record of 551 runs in the 2022 season, Deshpande’s campaign ended on a disappointing note. Despite taking 21 wickets, Deshpande struggled with an average economy of 9.92 throughout the tournament.

In the IPL final against Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans showcased their prowess by posting a massive total of 214 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

This incredible feat made them the record holders for the highest score in an IPL final in the history of the tournament. Sai Sudharsan played a stunning innings, scoring 96 runs off just 47 balls, including six sixes and eight fours, at an impressive strike rate of 204.25.

Wriddhiman Saha also contributed significantly with 54 runs off 39 balls. Shubman Gill’s quickfire 39 off 20 deliveries and skipper Hardik Pandya’s unbeaten 21 off 12 balls added to the Titans’ commanding total.

Previous Record Broken

The Gujarat Titans’ achievement shattered the previous record set by Sunrisers Hyderabad, who scored 208 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2016 IPL final. As the tournament heads towards its climax, all eyes are now on whether the Titans can secure a consecutive title victory or if MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings will clinch a record-equalling fifth title. The IPL 2023 season has been filled with excitement, drama, and extraordinary performances, captivating fans worldwide.

Aside from Tushar Deshpande’s unfortunate record and the Gujarat Titans’ outstanding total, IPL 2023 was a season filled with remarkable performances. Players from various teams showcased their skills and left a lasting impact on the tournament. Batsmen delivered explosive innings, bowlers displayed exceptional skills, and fielders pulled off stunning catches.
