Tottenham Hotspurs 1-4 Chelsea: Frantic scenes at Tottenham as Chelsea reigns supreme over Spurs, ending their unbeaten streak, as Jackson scores hattrick

In latest football news, Tottenham Hotspurs and Chelsea might have played the game of the season last night at Tottenham Hotspurs stadium, with Ange Postecoglou’s side being reduced to nine men owing to some chaotic VAR checks and injuries, and Chelsea finally hitting some big strides in the Premier League, with their new recruit Nicolas Jackson scoring a second half hattrick, as Mauricio Pochettino wins big at his return to Spurs.

A tumultuous first-half

Chelsea and Tottenham always promises to be one of the biggest encounters in the Premier League, but what happened last night, was beyond words. In one of the chaotic and horrendous games of this season till now, it was redemption for former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, who came back at his old stadium to snatch a classy victory against his former club, thus ending Spurs unbeaten streak. With the defeat, Postecoglou’s men were not the table toppers anymore, as they have surrendered their position to the serial winners Manchester City, who had earlier thrashed Bournemouth 6-1, riding on a Jeremy Doku brilliance.

In a game with three points were the utmost necessity, some VAR controversial checks and goal disallowance would have marred the beauty of the game. This was reportedly the first time that things had gone haywire for the former Celtic boss, as till now, his side was surging, giving their fans a chance to dream. The fans were buoyed by the spirit of the club, knowing that a victory against Chelsea, which was almost certain owing to the difficulties of their opponents, would take them back to the top of the table. But, little did they know that VAR and Nicolas Jackson would choose this day to make things right for them.

A shiny sixth minute goal from Swedish Dejan Kulusevski made things right for Ange, as he had started the proceedings for the Spurs, hitting the money straightaway, as his left-footed curler struck the seasoned Thiago Silva, taking a deflection to wrong foot custodian Sanchez, thus giving Tottenham their most anticipated lead. But, what started after this, was something that Ange and his men, including the spirited supporters would remember in the days to come.

Within the next 15 minutes, two more goals were ruled out offside by VAR, as they seem to have taken another controversial route with Arteta and Klopp blasting the video assistants previously. On the 12th minute, it was Son who bore the brunt of the disallowed opportunity, as the Korean was ruled out offside for being ahead of the opponent defender, thus keeping the score line at 1-0.

In the next ten minutes, another goal was disallowed, this time it would have been former City front man Raheem Sterling who got his shot cancelled by VAR. This check was done for a possible handball, as Sterling had handled the ball inside Spurs’ penalty box, thus keeping the score intact at 1-0 for the home side.

A goal within next ten minutes

On the 27th minute, a Moises Caicedo goal was ruled out offside by VAR, thus bringing into action once again. Although the Ecuadorian’s goal did not stand, referee Michael Oliver was sent to the monitor to check a possible penalty for Romero’s foul on fellow compatriot Enzo Fernandez.

After the check was over, Romero was sent off with Chelsea being awarded a penalty, which was slotted home by former City youngster Cole Palmer, thus finally, getting an opportunity to level the score line 1-1.

Against the run of play, Ange’s side was a man down within the first half. In the next two minutes, Jackson’s shot was ruled offside, thus both sides going in to halftime with 1-1 tied, the game poised for an intense finish in the next 45 minutes, as referee had added 12 more minutes to the regulation time. Van de Ven got injured and was subbed by Emerson Royal.

As the second half started, people would have hoped for a breather, but referees and players decided against it. Within ten minutes of second half, Spurs were down to nine men after Destiny Udogie was shown a second yellow card on the 54th minute. He fouled Sterling, thus Oliver taking no time to send him off, going for an early shower.

Vicario was instrumental in keeping the score to 1-1 as he turned into prime Lloris for thwarting several attacks from the Blues. But, on the 74th minute, former Villareal man decided to launch a scathing attack against Spurs. Sterling was instrumental in assisting Jackson, as the Senegalese star netted the lead for Poch’s side, breaking Spurs’ nine-man high defense line.

VAR came to the rescue for the Blues once again after Dier’s goal was ruled offside with ten minutes remaining on the clock, thus keeping the score in favor of Chelsea, with Poch’s side aiming a redemption with a win.

After the regulation period, nine minutes were added for both sides to salvage some pride in the otherwise frantic game. But Jackson might not have wanted any more hesitation as he went on to score a second goal of the night, thus killing the game.

But, his goal thirst was fulfilled three minutes later when he scored a classy hattrick, thus completing the rout for Pochettino, whose aim at redemption was successful with a win away at Spurs. Chelsea ended Spurs’ unbeaten streak thus shoving them away from the highly yearned top spot, with Manchester City reaching the pinnacle.
