Tottenham: Antonio Conte breaks silence over Spurs departure

Italian boss Antonio Conte has finally broken his silence after being sacked by Tottenham board following a scandalous outburst and a string of poor results which include a Champions League exit in the hands of AC Milan.

In the press conference after facing Southampton away, he took a direct dig at the players and the board, vindicating the latter for not winning a trophy since last 20 years despite changing managers at a frequent interval.

Sacked despite satisfactory form?

Although Spurs sit on the fourth position well on verge of qualification in Europe for the next season, Conte’s sacking might raise some eyebrows. Speculations indicate that his press conference was the driving force behind his removal.

He succeded Portuguese mastermind Nuno Espirito Santo in November 2021, and has led his team to the Champions League in his first season, but unfortunately failed to live up to the expectations of the fans this season, struggling for consistency.

Took social media to announce his love for the club

Conte sought to Instagram to announce his departure and love for the club. His feed says, “Football is passion. I would like to deeply thank everyone at SPURS who appreciated and shared my passion and my intense way of living football as a coach. A special thought to the Fans who always showed me support and appreciation, it’s been unforgettable to hear them singing my name. Our journey together has ended, I wish you all the best for the future-Antonio.”

Now, Tottenham will be looking for a new coach, with potential masterminds in track like Julian Nagelsmann, who is free after his removal from Bayern Munich and veteran Spanish coach Luis Enrique, with the latter being the frontrunner. Until Daniel Levy and his board find a new boss, assistant manager Cristian Stellini will take up the managing job for the remaining ten fixtures, to help Spurs achieve a favorable position in the league.
