Spanish Football Federation regional presidents demand resignation of Luis Rubiales
On 20th August 2023 Spain beat England 1-0 in the Women’s World Cup to become world champions for the first time. But unfortunately events after the match have taken the limelight more than their victory.The Spanish Football Federation President Luis Rubiales kissed player Jenni Hermoso on the lips during the medal distribution ceremony.
Jenni Hermoso the star Barcelona forward said the kiss on her lips was not consensual. Rubiales was suspended on Saturday by Fifa, a day after he claimed the kiss was “mutual and consensual”. But after recent events the Spanish Football Federation claim the news has bought a bad name and damaged the reputation of Spanish Football Federation and demanded a resignation from Luis Rubiales.
Spanish federation demand Rubiales’ resignation
Spain’s criminal court made a statement regarding the case and held that they were opening an investigation regarding the matter saying it was necessary “to determine their legal significance” of Hermoso’s comments. “Given the public statements made by Jennifer Hermoso, the sexual act she was subjected to by Luis Rubiales was not consensual,” the statement said.
MOTHER OF SPANISH FA PRESIDENT ENTERS HUNGER STRIKE
Rubiales’ mother Angeles Bejar has locked herself in the Divina Pastora church in Spain and says she has gone on a hunger strike because of the inhuman hunt against her son. She says that the hunger strike will go on day and night. She also claims that her son does deserve to be treated this way and the hunt against him should stop.
