Sachin Tendulkar Joins PM Modi and CM Yogi in Laying Foundation Stone for Varanasi Cricket Stadium

Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, participated in a stone-laying ceremony for the international cricket stadium in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. This development marks a significant step toward creating modern, world-class sports facilities.

Star-Studded Event

The ceremony saw the presence of renowned cricket players such as Ravi Shastri, Sunil Gavaskar, and Dilip Vengsarkar. Key figures from the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI), including President Roger Binny, Vice President Rajiv Shukla, and Secretary Jay Shah, also attended.

The international stadium in Varanasi is a collaborative effort between the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government and the BCCI. The state government invested ₹121 crore in land acquisition, while the BCCI is expected to allocate approximately ₹330 crore for stadium construction.

Inspired by Lord Shiva, the stadium features a thematic design with elements like crescent-shaped roof canopies, trident-like floodlights, seating resembling ghat steps, and facade sheets shaped like Bilvipatra leaves. It is designed to accommodate up to 30,000 spectators.

PM Modi’s Varanasi Visit

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Varanasi includes the inauguration and participation in multiple events. Following the stadium’s stone-laying ceremony, he is scheduled to visit the Rudraksh International Cooperation and Convention Centre and attend the closing ceremony of Kashi Sansad Sanskritik Mahotsav 2023.

During the program, PM Modi will dedicate 16 Atal Awasiya Vidyalayas constructed across Uttar Pradesh, emphasizing the government’s commitment to education and sports infrastructure development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Varanasi marks a momentous occasion, with the foundation stone for the ‘International Cricket Stadium’ and the inauguration of educational institutions contributing to the city’s growth and development.
