Rohit Sharma’s amusing exchange with Jadeja before Klaasen’s DRS review goes viral – WATCH

India’s formidable campaign in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 continued with a dominant victory over South Africa in Kolkata on November 5, winning by a commanding margin of 243 runs, in recent cricket news.

Their above-par total, driven by Virat Kohli’s record-equalling 49th ODI century, Shreyas Iyer’s second consecutive fifty, and valuable contributions from captain Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja, proved insurmountable for the Proteas.

India’s bowlers put on a remarkable display, with Ravindra Jadeja taking five wickets, while the trio of Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Kuldeep Yadav also made significant contributions.

Rohit Sharma’s amusing exchange with Jadeja before Klaasen’s DRS review goes viral – WATCH

One of the memorable moments from the match occurred when captain Rohit Sharma and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja engaged in a humorous discussion about whether to opt for a review after the umpire, Kumar Dharmasena, gave Heinrich Klaasen not out.

The decision appeared to be in favor of the batsman, although Rohit had doubts. It took some convincing from Jadeja before the captain delivered an epic one-liner, remarking, “Yahi ek batsman hai (This is the only batsman),” likely alluding to Klaasen’s form and the potential threat he posed. This witty exchange was followed by a successful review by India.

To everyone’s surprise, including Heinrich Klaasen and the umpire, all three aspects of the Decision Review System (DRS) showed that the ball was hitting the stumps. The umpire initially rejected Ravindra Jadeja’s appeal, but upon reviewing, it became evident that the ball’s trajectory could have made it challenging for it to strike the stumps, especially with it pitching partially in line.

Klaasen’s dismissal on the fifth delivery of the 13th over left South Africa struggling at just 40 runs for the loss of four wickets. This marked the beginning of a relentless fall of wickets, resulting in South Africa being bowled out for a meager 83 runs. Klaasen was one of Ravindra Jadeja’s five victims, making Jadeja the second Indian bowler to achieve a five-wicket haul in the World Cup 2023.
