Roger Federer hopes Rafael Nadal recovers in time for French Open

Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer has expressed his concern over Rafael Nadal’s injury woes ahead of the upcoming French Open. Federer is hoping for the speedy recovery of both Nadal and Novak Djokovic, who are both struggling with injuries. The 14-time French Open champion, Nadal, is a major doubt for Roland Garros due to a hip injury he suffered at the Australian Open.

Federer’s wish for Nadal’s recovery

Federer, speaking to Sky Sports during the Miami Grand Prix, wished for Nadal to recover in time for the second grand slam of the year. Federer said that it would be a “brutal” blow for tennis if Nadal was absent from the tournament this year. He also expressed concern for Novak Djokovic, who has been struggling with injuries and withdrew from the Rome Masters.

Federer also expressed interest in the younger generation of tennis players coming through the ranks, and stated that he will be watching them closely. The Swiss maestro seems to be enjoying his life post-retirement, co-chairing the prestigious Met Gala recently and attending the Miami GP over the weekend.

Nadal’s hip injury has caused him to miss important clay-court events in Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Madrid Open, and the Rome Masters. The 22-time Grand Slam champion has only won five matches since his return to the tour in August last year. Nadal had won his 14th Grand Slam title at Roland Garros last year but has struggled on the tour since then.

Djokovic’s injury concerns

Novak Djokovic, the current world number one, has also been struggling with injuries and was seen wearing elbow support in both Monte Carlo and SRPSKA Open. He recently withdrew from the Rome Masters, and his fitness remains a concern ahead of the French Open.

The French Open will start on May 30 and is one of the most prestigious events in the tennis calendar. Fans of the sport are hoping for a speedy recovery for both Nadal and Djokovic as they are considered two of the greatest players of all time. With the younger players also making waves in the sport, the French Open is shaping up to be an exciting and unpredictable tournament.
