Robert Lewandowski- the goal scoring honcho

Robert Lewandowski has been one of the biggest strikers of this generation, as his numbers say a lot about his goal scoring prolificity and mettle. Having been one of the legends for Bayern Munich over past few years, where his record books encompass of a five-goal onslaught within nine minutes to breaking Gerd Mueller’s record of scoring most goals in a single season, Lewa has been everyone’s favorite. He joined Xavi’s Barcelona last season, as former midfield maestro would have wanted to reinforce his attacking sector with some strong names after the departure of Lionel Messi and many Luis Suarez.

After joining the Spanish giants in 2022, Lewa took over La Liga by storm as he continued his impressive goal scoring streak. With the assistance of Raphinha and Dembele who were shouldering the responsibilities of flanking the wings, Lewa took off the radar as he soared high above other strikers, and went on to score 23 league goals in his first season with the Blaugranas. As a result of which, Lewa was awarded with Pichichi trophy, as he had raced way ahead of his contemporaries. Last night, La Liga had organized a ceremonious event where Lewa and Ter Stegen was awarded with their respective awards, with Lewa marking one year of his resounding arrival at Barca.

Bellingham- the challenger

Although last season Lewa had been a pivot for the Culers, but there seems to be a challenger for his Pichichi awards this season. Jude Bellingham-former Borussia Dortmund superstar who has wreaked havoc this year with his double season figures in front of the goal, might be the perfect foil to Lewa’s winning the Pichichi for the second consecutive time. The English starlet has been one of the biggest names in La Liga this year, and is already being hyped as a future superstar for Los Blancos. He had scored a brace, including a last minute goal against arch rivals FC Barcelona, at El Clasico, thus announcing his arrival at La Liga quite remarkably.

Lewa, after receiving the award, was head saying, “I want to thank my family, team, coach and staff. It was very important to adapt quickly to the team, everyone helped me from the beginning. We won La Liga, the Super Cup and now the Pichichi. I am very very happy.”

Speaking about Jude, Lewa was heard speaking about the long season, and anything can happen within the remaining months, as he said, “The season is long. It is very difficult to score many goals in the league, but we are Barcelona and we want to win and achieve many goals.”

Alongside Lewa, Barca once again got into the starboards when their skipper Marc Andre Ter Stegen won the prestigious Zamora trophy, owing to some meticulous performances last season, achieving more than 20 clean sheets. He eclipsed the previous record held by his predecessor, Claudio Bravo, as Lewa praised his teammate by saying, “It’s not easy to score against Ter Stegen in training. But then it’s easier to score in matches. When we have more problems in training, it’s better in matches.”

Things would definitely turn out to be more spicy when two of the stars battle it out after the international break, with Bellingham set to surpass Lewa’s record and pose a unique challenge.
