Richarlison bursts into tears on the bench after missing a sitter in Barzil’s 5-1 win over Bolivia

Tottenham forward Richarlison was in tears after being subbed off, having failed to find the net again in a 5-1 win for Brazil over Bolivia.

Richarlison was named in the starting XI for Brazil’s first World Cup qualifier. He was part of the front four that included Raphinha, Rodrygo and Neymar.

As Brazil was tearing Bolivia apart, Richarlison drew a blank and was substituted in the 71st-minute moments after missing a sitter and was replaced by Wolves’ Matheus Cunha.

Furthermore, after Richarlison was subbed off, he sat down on the substitute bench and was pictured in tears alongside his teammates. The striker has endured a tough time since his £50 million move to Spurs last summer.

Richarlison’s tough start to the new season continues with Brazil

The Brazilian striker has scored just one goal in his last five appearances for Tottenham this season. Moreover, he started on the bench last weekend against Burnley.

New Spurs captain Son Heung-min started as No. 9 last weekend for Ange Postecoglou’s side. The South Korean scored a hat-trick against Burnley in a 5-2 win and this might dent his chances to start up-front.

Richarlison will look to get back on the scoresheet when Brazil face Peru in their second 2026 World Cup qualifier. However, Diniz can make changes in his side, with Arsenal stars Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli both pushing to be named in the XI.
