Real Madrid president Florentino Perez calls Girona star Portu to apologise for Nacho’s tackle

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has reportedly called Girona forward Portu to apologise after Nacho’s reckless tackle on him.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side managed to beat Girona 3-0 away from home and put a break to their impressive streak in La Liga. Furthermore, Barcelona are the only unbeaten team in the league.

Real Madrid now sits on the top of the La Liga table with 21 points. However, there was also one downside of their win over the Catalans.

Centre-back Nacho Fernandez made a reckless tackle on Girona forward Portu in the extra-time. After the challenge, the Spaniard was initially shown a yellow card, but it was later reverted to a red after VAR intervention as Portu was taken off on a stretcher.

Florentino Perez and Carlo Ancelotti apologise to Portu

According to journalist Nil Sola, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez called Portu to apologise for Nacho Fernandez’s tackle and the injury he had sustained.

Moreover, Carlo Ancelotti is also said to have personally talked to the Spanish striker and apologised for his player’s rash tackle, as per Onda Cero.

Nevertheless, after making such a bad tackle, Nacho himself called the player and asked for forgiveness.

Nacho Fernandez apologises to Portu on social media

“I want to apologise to Portu for an involuntary action in the party. Today and throughout my career, I never intended to hurt anyone. I hope you can recover well and quickly,” Nacho said on his Instagram.

As a result, Nacho could miss up to four games in La Liga including El Classico. Nacho’s hopeless tackle now places Carlo Ancelotti in a selection dilemma in defence.
