Rayo vallecano deliver upset in La Liga by defeating defending champions

It was an absolutely sensational game at the Vallecas cause since the first whistle, Vallecano were on top of Madrid and they were defending so well like there was no tomorrow. In just 5 minutes, the home team took the lead courtesy of a great finish from Comesana.

However, after that goal, Madrid got a penalty and they equalized by scoring from the spot courtesy of Luka Modric. And at the 41st-minute mark, the away side got a corner kick and it was taken by Marco Asensio and when the ball arrived in the box, it was headed to goal by Eder Militao. And after that, it looked like it was all but game over for Rayo.

But then just after 3 minutes, due to the sensational home crowd support that Rayo was receiving they managed to equalize and the score was 2-2, hence it was all to play for in the second half. When the second half began, after nearly 20 minutes, the home side got a penalty and the whole stadium erupted due to joy thinking of a historic night happening in front of them, but their team missed the penalty and it was all on faith once again.

But faith listened to them as the penalty had to be retaken as Courtois obstructed a rule and at the second time, there weren’t any mistakes and Vallecano took the lead against the defending champions.

They managed to defend till the end of the game which lasted around 100 minutes and at the final whistle the game ended and it became a sensational night in Vallecas.
