RCB vs CSK: High Scoring Game Results In Equalling Most Sixes Hit in A IPL Match

Chennai Super King achieved an 8-run victory over hosts Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday night. The fifties from Conway (83 off 45 balls) and Dube (52 off 26) helped CSK to put 226 on board which was CSK’s highest-ever total against RCB at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Living up to the expectations, both sides exhibited quality gameplay as the teams utilized the short boundaries of the M Chinnaswamy Stadium to the maximum and a total of 33 sixes were hit during the game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings.

Chennai Started Strong But RCB Replied As Well

Starting the contest, Devon Conway hit 6 sixes in the first innings and was followed by Shivam Dube’s 5, as CSK piled up 226 runs on the board. The streak was then continued by the RCB batters as Faf du Plessis hit four sixes to set RCB in the second innings. However, Glenn Maxwell continued the show with as many as 8 sixes to lead up to his score of 76 in just 36 deliveries. Suyash Prabhudesai then followed it up with two maximums but couldn’t help his side get over the line as RCB ultimately finished the chase on a score of 218.

With 33 sixes, this clash equaled the record for most sixes hit during an IPL game and interestingly, the top three games in the chart include RCB and CSK as the two participating sides.

Players Say On The High Scoring Game

After the game, it was shown that Conway told Dube, “Tonight was a great night. Personally, I was very happy with the way things went as It was a really good wicket to bat on. I managed to form some good partnerships with Ajinkya (Rahane) who’ve done really well up top here. And then obviously with you out in the middle was a great partnership and I gave you the singles and you gave us the sixers, so very enjoyable night.”

During the post-match presentation ceremony, Mahendra Singh Dhoni said “Whenever you score 220, the batsmen need to keep on hitting. If Faf and Maxi had continued, they would have won it by the 18th over. I keep assessing from behind the wicket, I am always involved in what needs to be done rather than thinking about the result.”

Faf Du Plessis added, “200 was going to par, we went for few runs towards the end. We could have minimized the damage by restricting them (for less than 20 in an over). The last four overs were where it was set up for a perfect finish. It was one of those wickets, one of the best (for batters.) As a bowler you need to be skillful, Siraj was unbelievable.”
